Marketing and sales are the livelihood of every business.
And these marketing secrets I am going to talk about are some of the most significant lessons I learned during the past year as a newbie entrepreneur.
When I first started making money online, I ignored these 7 secrets because I was ignorant of marketing’s importance.
I was fed up with scammy internet marketers trying to promote their get-rich quick schemes (that obviously don’t work).
If you also have the flawed perception that marketing & selling are bad, change it now.
That’s the 1st marketing secret.
You will never, ever be able to sell your service or products if you believe that marketing is something bad.
As the successful salesman Zig Ziglar says, you have to believe in the service you sell and recommend.
If you believe that marketing is bad, that you are doing something wrong by trying to sell your product/service – then that vibe will be transmitted to everyone around you.
And nobody will buy from you.
On the other hand, if you believe with conviction in the value of your product/service, then you will see amazing results.
You should think of your product as something that brings genuine value into other people’s lives.
Then, market it like crazy.
If what you offer is solid, the “word of mouth“ will push your services higher in the demand list.
You have to market your product.
Because, even the best product in the world won’t be sold if nobody knows about it.
Stop focusing on your business.
Focus on how your business solves the customer’s problems.
Your customers don’t give a damn shit about who you are, what you have done or how big your business is.
Only one question is wandering in your customer’s mind.
“What’s in it for me? How can this help me in my life?”
Most new businesses and entrepreneurs fail because they either 1) try to sell to hard or 2) they don’t focus enough on their customers.
Your customer is an A+ priority.
Without customers, you and your service are out of business.
Why should your customer buy from you instead of someone else?
If you can’t answer this question, your business will hardly make a dime.
In my Fiverr Business, I consult and help several small business owners and internet entrepreneurs.
You can’t imagine how many of them can’t answer that question.
They don’t know why should their customer buy from them! (Then, they complain they don’t make enough money.)
Obviously, you won’t make money if you can’t even tell how your product can be helpful for someone.
On top of that, many of them will answer with something generic like “high quality”.
Who cares if your product is of high quality? I mean, yes, it’s important. But is that all you got?
Generic, derivative answers will lead to mediocre, generic results.
I always advise Fiverr Sellers to use a happy, smiling profile picture of themselves.
Because people want to connect with people. Not with faceless corporations.
They want to trust you and identify them in yourself.
You don’t convey much trust if you don’t put yourself up there. All successful entrepreneurs, Steve Jobs, Mark Zuckerberg, Mark Cuban have done that.
Why should your business do any differently?
Think about male or female perfumes.
What do you notice in these advertisements?
Hot, masculine, classy and jacked men with sexy women.
Because Calvin Klein wants you to feel connected with the man in the photo. And believe that you will also be irresistible when you get the cologne.
If they used a sloppy, fat, ugly male model their sales would plummet.
That’s the power of making your customer identify himself with you.
Do not run multiple businesses simultaneously.
Do not switch businesses each time you see no results.
The man who chases two rabbits will get nothing in the end.
Focus on one goal. Focus all your efforts in one single purpose and don’t spread yourself thin. Be patient.
If something doesn’t work as expected, then experiment – but don’t fucking quit.
Why wander from goal to goal never achieving anything when you can concentrate your efforts into 1 something and gain everything?

Let me quote Zig Ziglar again:
“Sales is the transfer of emotion”.
In simple words, trying to appeal to someone’s logic isn’t as powerful as appealing to his emotions.
Humans are emotion driven. Especially women.
If you sell a weight loss diet, don’t say “With this diet you can drop 5 lbs of fat in a week”
Do say: “Feel your body getting slimmer and sexier day after day as fat melts off consistently”
The 1st appeals to logic.
The 2nd appeals to emotion.
One of the books in my recommended reading list is the 48 Laws of Power.
There is one whole law explaining the importance of attracting attention towards your name and business.
Even if that means creating controversy.
There is no such thing as “bad publicity” unless you are a fraud and scam people.
Then, everything will turn against you.
If your message is genuine, whatever controversy you create will actually be in your favor as more people will discover you and your brand.
He picked multiple online fights with people more popular than he was, like the famous Hollywood actor Seth Rogen.
The controversy only helped him grow his website.
Last but not least, your brand name plays a significant role in your success.
If you have a strange brand name or something that’s difficult to be pronounced you are really limiting your potential.
You want people to 1) talk about you and 2) remember your brand.
If your brand is called JQAP Family Products (meaning just quality amazing products), you bet that this is not easy to remember.
On the other hand, think about “Apple” or “Netflix”.
Easy to remember, catchy and easy to pronounce.
Don’t overcomplicate things in an effort to sound “smart”.
Smart doesn’t sell.
Simple and effective is what sells
3 Ways To Be Better At Marketing: 1) Target emotional triggers 2) Attract attention with controversy 3) Pick an easy to remember brand name.

Stick to the basics.
Most of the principles that really work are those you are not taught in college.
Follow the 8 strategies I described above and you will see the difference when you start using them.
You will finally be able to get some results and your marketing efforts won’t be wasted.
